Constellation
What are family constellations and how can they help you?
Family constellations are a therapeutic method that helps to reveal and understand the deep connections in your life. We often carry invisible patterns of behavior, feelings or problems that arose in our family and we don’t even know about it. These patterns can affect our relationships, health, work and overall well-being.
During constellations, these connections are symbolically “placed in space”, allowing you to see them from a higher perspective and understand them. Often, awareness and a change in inner attitude are enough for things to start changing in your real life.
What can be the benefits of family constellations?
- Better Relationships – Understand family and partner patterns, release tension and improve communication.
- Changing Negative Patterns – Stop repeating the same mistakes in relationships, work or finances.
- Relieving Inner Blocks – You can release long-standing emotions that are holding you back.
- Health Support – Some physical problems may be related to your psyche and family history.
- Clearer Direction – You will gain a new perspective on life situations and find solutions that you would not have thought of before.
Bert Hellinger
The founder of the Family Constellation Method, he was strongly influenced by his stay among the African Zulu tribe during his time as a missionary in South Africa. Inspiration from their cultural and spiritual traditions played a key role in shaping the foundations of his approach to family and systemic relationships.

Practical aspects of Zulu influence
Recognition and Acceptance of Destiny
The Zulu believe that everyone has a unique destiny that must be accepted with humility. Hellinger integrated this philosophy into his approach, where constellations are often worked with accepting reality as it is, without judgment or resistance.
Deep Perception of the Family Field
The Zulu rely on intuition and connection to the collective consciousness. Hellinger developed this perception into the concept of the "morphogenetic field", which is key to working with family constellations.

How to prepare for constellations?
Think about what topic or question you want to address. It doesn’t have to be perfectly specific, just a general issue, such as: Relationships (family, partner, colleagues). Repetitive patterns or obstacles. Health issues or stress. Making decisions about important life steps. If you’re not sure, we can refine the topic together during the introduction.
Basic information that may be useful: Important events in the family (e.g. deaths, divorces, serious illnesses, traumas). Any complications during your conception, birth or early childhood. History of family relationships (e.g. conflicts, separations, migrations). You don’t need detailed knowledge – what you know is enough.
Go into the constellations with an open mind and no preconceptions. You don't have to know in advance how the process will go, just trust that everything will turn out right.
The day before and at least the day after the constellations, try to get some rest, get enough sleep, and avoid stress. Eat lightly and drink enough water to feel comfortable.
What to expect during constellations:
We start by briefly discussing your topic. Then we build a "constellation" that shows the dynamics of your situation. We observe what is happening in the constellation and gradually look for solutions.
During the process, emotions such as sadness, relief, anger or joy may arise. All feelings are welcome and are part of the healing process. Everyone in their role feels what is important and this brings insights into hidden things and through the primary emotions the constellation flows towards harmony and peace.
Constellations often evoke deep realizations that need time to "settle in." Give yourself a quiet evening and the following days. Avoid overexertion, alcohol, or strenuous activities.
The changes that the constellations will bring can happen gradually. There is no need to pressure the result - everything will happen at the right time.
Systemic constellations are a process of working with hidden dynamics in family, work or other systems. Here is an overview of what happens during a constellation:
1. Setting the topic
At the beginning, we will clarify the topic that you want to work on. It could be, for example:
A strained relationship with parents, partner or children.
Recurring problems that seem to occur for no apparent reason.
Problems with health or finances, work.
This is not a detailed telling of the whole story. A simple summary is enough to focus on the key question.
2. Selecting representatives
In the case of a group constellation, the participants will be representatives for different elements of the system:
Family members (e.g. mother, father, siblings).
Emotions, thoughts or abstract concepts (e.g. "fear", "love", "success").
For you
In an individual session, figurines, objects or symbols are used instead of people.
3. Spatial placement
The representative of each element stands in a place in space according to how they perceive it.
This "image of the system" reflects the internal settings and hidden connections.
4. Perception and movement of the representatives
The representatives begin to perceive the feelings, impulses or tensions associated with the role they represent. This is not role-playing, but a natural connection to the energy of the system.
The representatives can share how they feel in a given position, for example:
"I feel distance."
"My chest is heavy."
"I feel like I want to leave."
5. Revealing hidden dynamics
During the process, the following may be revealed:
Lost connections (e.g. a neglected family member, unprocessed trauma).
Imbalance in the system (e.g. a child taking responsibility for a parent).
Repeating patterns (e.g. loyalty to the fate of ancestors).
These dynamics often explain problems or feelings that were previously unclear.
6. Finding balance
The guide suggests changes in the layout or guides the representative to certain gestures or sentences that help restore balance.
The goal is to create a new image in which the system functions harmoniously and restore the natural flow of energy.
7. Experience and integration
The client can observe the process from the outside or, at the end, get involved in their role and experience the new state of the system.
The constellation often brings deep emotional release and awareness.
The result may not be immediate - changes continue even after the constellation ends, as the system gradually accepts the new settings.
What is important to realize?
Constellations do not work on a "logical level". They work with energies, intuition and experience.
It is not necessary to "understand everything" that is happening. The process unfolds naturally and leads to the changes that are most important to you at the moment.
Constellation work is not about finding blame, but about restoring balance, respect and connection in the system.
The result of the constellation?
You may feel relief, greater clarity and empowerment.
You will come up with new ways to approach your problems.
Changes in the system will often manifest in your life as greater harmony, peace and the release of previously blocked energy.
Systemic constellations are a powerful tool for working with emotions and relationships, but they are not suitable for everyone. There are certain situations and conditions where participation in constellations should be considered or even avoided. Below is an overview of when constellations are not recommended or may be problematic:
When are constellations not recommended or prohibited?
1. Acute psychological problems
Diagnoses such as psychosis, schizophrenia, severe depression or bipolar disorder.
Constellations can trigger strong emotional reactions and destabilize the psychological state.
If the person is under the care of a psychiatrist or psychotherapist, it is advisable to consult a specialist before participating.
Severe anxiety or panic attacks.
The process may cause further anxiety or a feeling of overload.
2. Acute trauma
Recent experiences of trauma, such as the loss of a loved one, violence or an accident.
In the case of fresh trauma, it is better to first stabilize the condition using other forms of therapy.
3. People with low introspection ability
Inability to perceive their emotions or connect with the process.
If the person is significantly disconnected from their experience, constellations can be challenging and less effective.
4. Pregnancy
Pregnant women should be careful.
Constellations can trigger strong emotional reactions that can indirectly affect the psychological well-being of both the mother and the child.
It is recommended that pregnant women undergo constellations only after consulting with a facilitator and feeling ready for them.
5. Skepticism or resistance to the method
If a person does not have an open mind or goes to constellations only out of compulsion, for example, because of a partner, it is likely that they will not gain any benefit from the process.
Constellations require a willingness to immerse themselves in a process that works on an intuitive and emotional level.
6. Desire to manipulate the system
Constellations cannot be built on someone else's theme - (e.g. "so that my partner does what I want"), the method is focused on the harmony and balance of the entire system, not on the fulfillment of individual wishes regarding other people, only topics related to the client and his relationship to the given persons can be entered.
7. Lack of a safe environment
If a person does not trust the facilitator or does not feel safe in the group, it can be difficult to open up to the process.
I recommend individual sessions if the group environment is a source of concern.
8. Substance abuse or intoxication
Participation under the influence of alcohol, drugs or strong medications (e.g. sedatives) is not appropriate.
These substances can affect the ability to perceive and engage in the process.
9. Young children or immature individuals
Constellations are not suitable for young children or people who are not able to fully understand and integrate their meaning. Children under the age of 18 can have their constellation built by their parents.
Meditation
How does visualization work?
Visualization and meditation are therapeutic techniques that help calm the mind, release stress, and rewrite negative patterns in the subconscious. They work with your imagination and inner experience, allowing you to better understand yourself and your emotions.
Visualization is a method in which you imagine certain images, situations, or feelings in your mind. It helps you:
Change your internal beliefs - If you can imagine a positive change, your brain will start to see it as possible.
Calm emotions - Working with images can reduce anxiety, fear, or stress.
Promote healing - Visualization is also used to heal the body, for example, when you are in pain or after an injury.
Connect to your inner strength - It helps you gain self-confidence, motivation, and a clearer vision of the future.
Emotion Code
is a technique developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson that can quickly and easily identify and release trapped emotions. Releasing these trapped emotions can provide relief from emotional pain as well as physical symptoms.
The Emotional Code is a simple yet effective method of energy healing that allows for the gentle release of invisible trapped emotions from the body and our energy field.
